Mon. - Marty Hauck is looking forward to the start of the 2016 / 17 wrestling season on Saturday, February 4, at 3 p.m. in St. Louis. We use a weight management program to determine the minimum weight category a wrestler is allowed to participate in during the season.
We divide wrestlers into two groups: those who want to play sport and those who don't. The wrestlers meet to discuss what lies ahead, their season goals and their plans for next year.
A full-time volunteer trainer leads the exercise and projects a schedule and a short instructional and motivational video onto the wall. We also use this time to learn the diet, do homework, practice and practice again for the next two weeks.
Trainer Leonard Grodoski has developed a graduated intervention program called Operation Gas, which specifically points out ways for trainers to boost their wrestlers "confidence throughout the day. The technique is presented to the team in the first week of training, with a short video and a short motivational video at the end of each training session.
Rolla also offers a scholarship program to sports and event organizers, which Caron Campbell said was invaluable. The courses are offered through the Rolla Missouri Sports Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, and tournaments and leagues are scheduled for the next two years.
The program costs nothing, but you will work on skills in areas like conditioning to be able to compete at the level you want and need. We understand that we have to keep working every day to make this program better, "Floyd said.
